Ever try to add working out into the 5 other hours-long tasks you already have scheduled in a single day? And somehow, that workout doesn’t usually get done… probably along with 1 or 2 of the other things.
Instead of adding in working out, you should replace something of minor importance with working out. Say instead of your usual 2-4 hours of doing something recreational after work, maybe you shorten that activity and add in working out for an hour. Instead of watching Netflix for 3 or 4 shows, you could watch 1 or 2 shows, and go to the gym for 45 minutes?
It’s overwhelming to continue adding things into our schedule that we “think” are useful, but simplifying what is ACTUALLY impacting us can does make all the difference.
And let’s not forget, our health has a pretty big impact on ALL areas of life, not just health itself. That’s a pretty big reason to justify working on your health, over a lot of other nonsense that we glorify, generally because of the immediate gratification we get from that activity. (Like scrolling through a phone for 30 straight minutes being mindless, instead of utilizing that time to be a tiny bit more productive.)
Stop adding things in and make a mental note of all the things that you can’t find good reasons for doing, and replace those or delete those habits/activities out of your life. You can make more room for creativity, and other important areas that do in fact improve your quality of being, and most definitely your overall happiness.
